if you want to wait that long to grow it out...do it ..

But the first thing that came to mind was dye it back to blonde. It doesn't matter if its a little off, because blondes look great anyways, you could get highlights and everything to make it look better. Then when it grows out a litle more, you can match it even better. there are tons of colors out there

Try getting highlights in the brown hair. Then when it starts to grow out it will look like brown highlights.

My step daughter did this.....and she has never been her natural color since. the best you can do .... is to begin highlighting it.....but remember color will not remove color...and you will have to go to a professional.....and you have to tell them that you have color on it, this lets them know what they need to do. I would actually use kaledicolors..neutral, and see if it would lift any at all. this would give you natural looking highlights, but it would be best to do a test strand to see if the kaledi colors will do anything.....I have done it b4 and it does ..... but not knowing how dark brown nor what brand you used.....I do not know if the kaledicolors will work or not.

I go back and forth with my hair from brown to blond all the time. It shouldn't be hard to match your natural shade, there are a lot of shades out there, one should be really close to your natural one.
